When this corporate client was keen to celebrate their recent milestones, they settled on a bespoke aerial entertainment display for their event, taking place at the picturesque Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales.
The Brief
This client wanted something truly special for their private conference event, organised to recognise their achievements and set goals for the year ahead.
Taking place in the heart of the Usk Valley at Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales, the display needed to be perfect to accentuate the beautiful architecture and surroundings.
The DroneSwarm team worked alongside an event production company to produce a drone light show combined with an ultra low-noise firework display and provide outdoor PA for 600 people.
The client wanted to display their achievements in glowing colours, plus a range of imagery relevant to their industry.
The Challenges
Due to the location, the DroneSwarm team faced a couple of challenges.
The audience was positioned some distance from the display, meaning trees and buildings threatened to block the view for some of the spectators.
Celtic Manor is also situated just 100 metres from the M4, presenting further limitations.
Our team produced detailed LiDAR surveys, allowing us to determine the best possible locations and processes to follow for the display to ensure all of the audience could see the full show.
This also involved flying up to 150m high – higher than drones are usually permitted to fly in the UK. We hold Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) permission for increased height.
What is a LiDAR survey?
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) drones are unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with remote sensing and mapping technology. These drones allow us to measure distances to the Earth’s surface, creating highly precise 3D models of terrains, buildings and other features.
With this technology, our team can use 3D images to meticulously plan drone light shows, determining the best flight paths and movements.
The Result
Despite the obstacles and logistical challenges, our team was able to produce a stunning drone light show and firework display for this client.
The show consisted of images including butterflies and heartbeats, a dazzling galaxy-inspired scene and the business’s proudest achievements, illuminated in bright colours.
We also executed a bespoke firework display in their brand colours, creating a unique experience for the company.
