Few technologies have transformed the way we live as significantly as broadband.
From the days of dial-up internet to online gaming, remote working and even electric vehicles, it has truly revolutionised the way we communicate, consume entertainment and work.
Can you believe that domestic broadband has been in the UK for 25 years? Here’s how we helped one broadband company celebrate this milestone.
The Brief
When LightSpeed Broadband wanted to celebrate 25 years of domestic broadband in the UK, we produced a spectacular drone light show for them in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
Our client wanted the display to illustrate the evolution of broadband over the last 25 years and showcase how it has transformed our everyday lives, including recognisable symbols and images highlighting the various ways broadband is used across all areas of society. This display was commissioned by the company’s PR agency Queen Bee Communications, taking place in the grounds of the iconic Tamworth Castle.

The Display
Our drone light show consisted of images of dial-up internet, Wi-Fi symbols, smartphones, games consoles, wireless headphones, electric vehicles and remote working, demonstrating the evolution of domestic broadband’s ever-increasing influence on our everyday lives.
While many of our shows take place at events on the grounds of private venues, we regularly work with PR companies to provide public displays like these, marking occasions, celebrating anniversaries or executing product launches.
Although displays like this often involve liaising with local councils and cordoning off public areas, executing a display in a public park in a town or city centre is usually completely feasible.
And this display went off without a hitch.

The Result
Published in Birmingham World, LightSpeed’s CEO, Brett Shepherd, said:
“Hosting the drone show is a fitting tribute to mark a quarter-century of progress in the digital world, all while paying homage to a landmark that has stood the test of time. It also marks us being the first altnet company (alternative network to larger providers) to bring full fibre broadband to homes and businesses in Tamworth.”
