In May 2024 DroneSwarm produced the first ever drone light show in Guernsey for Hiscox Insurance.
Planning a drone light show in a location like Guernsey involves several unique considerations. First, we have to navigate the island’s specific regulations regarding drone usage. This means working closely with local authorities to ensure compliance with all safety and legal requirements.
Flying a swarm show in the Channel Islands means obtaining necessary permissions, conducting a site survey, and coordinating with local air traffic control to ensure that our show does not interfere with any other airspace activities.
Next, we focus on the technical aspects of the show. Our team of engineers and designers work tirelessly to program the drones, creating intricate patterns and sequences that are both visually stunning and appropriate for the event.
When designing a drone show we can either work from a list of ideas, or a detailed storyboard from the client. We’ll then create a storyboard in drones and visuals of each scene for sign off by the client. This careful co-ordination enables us to tell the required story in the sky against the perfect musical backdrop.
Our first show in Guernsey was flown within a few hundred meters of the airport. We co-ordinated with air traffic control to ensure both operations could co-exist on the day of the event.
