Fireworks are a spectacular addition to any event, whether it’s a corporate gathering, party or wedding. However, gaining permission from a venue to carry out a firework display isn’t always easy.
If your heart is set on having fireworks at your event, check with your venue to see whether they are permitted or if there are any restrictions.
We are incredibly proud of the wider MLE Group’s heritage as a firework company. Aside from traditional fireworks and our drone light shows here at DroneSwarm, we also provide lighting, laser displays and low-noise fireworks too, meaning we can provide a variety of substitutes for traditional fireworks.
In this article, we outline why venues might say ‘no’ to firework displays and share alternative options that could create a spectacle at your event.
Why might a venue say ‘no’ to fireworks?
There are many reasons why venues may prohibit fireworks, either permanently or temporarily.
Here are a few examples:
- Noise concerns for both humans and animals
- Calls for widespread regulation and restriction
- A venue may not have the correct insurance
- Safety concerns, although these are usually only an issue for non-professionals
- The grounds aren’t large enough for a safety zone around where the fireworks launch
So what are the alternatives?
Drone Light Shows
DroneSwarm offers mesmerising drone light shows, allowing you to see your chosen colours, logo, branding or message illuminated against the night sky in everything from simple shapes to complex stories and animations.
When you choose one of our drone light shows, you choose a precisely choreographed LED display, forming spectacular and intricate patterns and shapes that amaze those watching.
The MLE Group has secured approval from the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) as pioneers in the UK drone light show industry, backed up by our comprehensive expertise of UK aviation rules and regulations.
By choosing a drone light display, you eliminate the potential risks of fireworks while embracing the future of innovative visual entertainment. Our displays are almost silent, with the sound of the drones only audible when used in larger quantities.
Laser Displays
Laser displays can take on a variety of patterns and colours, adding a colourful and awe-inspiring feature to any event. Their versatility means we can create a laser display to match your specific requirements.
Our laser displays can be choreographed to a soundtrack or, if you can have one, synchronised with your firework display. They can be mapped onto buildings or objects and used to display patterns, colours, logos and messages.
Depending on the weather, our laser displays can be seen for miles around, providing you with the chance to create a real buzz and get people curious about your future events.
The DroneSwarm team act as UK distributor for Kvant lasers, so we have access to the highest quality full-colour lasers and equipment for your next event. Our team are also highly trained in laser safety.
Lighting
Lighting is a simplistic yet effective way to draw people into events and add a sense of magic to a venue at night, lighting up paths and accentuating the architecture of buildings.
Our lighting services can help provide a final flourish to a wedding, working with fireworks or as a standalone show.
The innovative Robe iPointe65 luminaire, which is used for our lighting services, is available for hire through the MLE Group. Click here to find out more.
Low-noise Fireworks
These do what they say on the tin.
Produced with a reduced amount of flash powder – the substance which produces the loud bangs we associate with fireworks – low-noise fireworks are specifically designed to have lower noise levels, or even be near-silent, making them suitable for some venues that don’t allow standard displays.
If your venue has noise restrictions, low- or lower-noise fireworks can be the best way to provide a beautiful display without causing a disruption. Fireworks are still an incredibly popular form of visual entertainment. But with the possibility of further restrictions, drones, lighting, lasers and low-noise displays prove to be very effective alternatives.
At the MLE Group, our team is made up of experts in all of these types of displays. With our roots as a firework company, we are fully equipped to provide a traditional firework display or carry out any of the above, either as an alternative to a firework display or to complement one.
If you have restrictions with amplified music outside we have you covered. In stock we carry hundreds of sets of silent disco style headsets. Each guest is given a set to wear and we take care of broadcasting the audience wirelessly.
We are also aware that drone light shows, lasers and low-noise fireworks may require special permission too, especially if the chosen venue is close to an airport. Our team can handle this process for you and ensure any regulations are followed.
